Here in New Zealand, we’re proud of our unique environment and way of life, but climate change is putting both of these things at risk.
In 2018 scientists issued a stark warning: if we don’t manage to stop the planet warming by 1.5C, we will see a significant increase in extreme weather, extreme migration and extreme poverty across the globe.
Already, our Pacific neighbours are losing their soil and freshwater resources to salt from the ocean, and our beautiful rockhopper penguin population is on the decline due to warming oceans.
Right now, the Government is progressing a landmark Bill to cut carbon emissions and help protect people and our wildlife from the impacts of climate change. But MPs still have to vote on the Bill before it can become law.
By joining together in our thousands, we can make sure MPs across Parliament know that New Zealanders want serious action on climate change – and encourage them to back this vital law.
This is our climate moment. Join our movement.
